Fighting Dragons of Ara
NGC 6188 · Emission nebula in Ara · ~4,000 ly
Sinuous ridges of gas and dust that seem to rear up like two dragons locked in battle, sculpted along the rim of a vast molecular cloud. The young, massive stars of the nearby cluster NGC 6193 light the scene and shape the dark, serpentine forms with their winds and radiation.
