Orion's Belt Mosaic
Emission & reflection nebulae in Orion · ~1,500 ly
A wide mosaic sweeping across the belt of Orion, framing the glowing hydrogen of IC 434 with the dark silhouette of the Horsehead Nebula, the blue reflection cloud NGC 2023, and the dusty tendrils wreathing the belt’s brilliant stars. It is one of the richest and most recognizable fields in the entire night sky.
