Heart and Soul Nebula
IC 1805 & IC 1848 · Emission nebulae in Cassiopeia · ~7,500 ly
Two giant star-forming clouds sitting side by side in Cassiopeia. The Heart (IC 1805) is named for its shape and is lit by a young cluster of hot, massive stars at its center, while the Soul (IC 1848) glows nearby. Pillars and ridges of gas and dust, sculpted by stellar winds and radiation, ripple through both.
